“As most men do, you give them an inch and they take a mile”
When I was younger the “thing” to do was go hangout at the local strip mall that had a hip bookstore we once knew as BORDERS (RIP). Rummaging through the fiction section on any given night I would always see this particular book with two condoms on it—Diary of a Manhattan Call Girl by Tracy Quan—and for whatever reason was always intrigued (PROBABLY because it had condoms on it, and I was a stupid 12 year-old).
Every time I went back to the store I’d read bits of the story, always contemplating actually buying it, until finally I gave in and secretly enjoyed the book along with the deviant feeling of reading something probably way too “old” for me.
While it might sound shocking to some, find it no surprise that a better part of the population is in fact making a living off of sex. And in light of this phenomenon, a new book coming out The Secret Diary: Confessions of a Call Girl (not to be mistaken by the Quan novel mentioned above) is a collection of the Mr. Too Good to be Trues as encountered via the diary left behind from a working girl: man, after man, after man, in the city. For money. Like, lots of money.
Intrigued? You should be.
This is a phenomenon, that while deemed OK by some when practiced safely and respectfully, is growing increasingly violent and deadly, something tragic and easily prevented if the dark side is surfaced to women around the world to not fall into scams.
The diary, which will be available in book form soon, has taken the web publishing snippits of her story on Tumblr (thesecretdiaryofconfessions.tumblr.com) vowing to donate 15% of its earnings to help end sex slavery and human trafficking.
