I love a good flea because one thing could change your whole life—think about it: one second you’re just walking down the street, then the next thing you know you have a new vintage TV from 1960.
If you’re really ambitious, you can do all five fleas in one Sunday: starting with the Upper West Side and ending in Williamsburg (I’ve listed them in order, don’t worry).
My favorite of the bunch was definitely Brooklyn Flea under the Brooklyn Bridge where the selection was the largest and the atmosphere was the best.
Grand Bazaar (UWS)
When: Sundays, 10am-5pm, year-round
Where: 100 West 77th
The vibe: Neighborhood bazaar energy with a mission. Indoor/outdoor stalls with mixed vintage, antiques, jewelry, furniture, artisan food, and more. Crowded but walkable. They donate proceeds to local public schools so it feels civic VS trendy.
Chelsea Flea (Chelsea)
When: Saturdays and Sundays, 8am-5pm, year-round (rain or shine)
Where: 29 West 25th
The vibe: Old-school NYC antiques hunt alert! Tables of vintage clothing, furniture, architectural styles, watches, collectibles. Less curated for IG, more rummage-and-find. Opens earliest of them all, so start here if you plan a whole day of flea hopping.
Ludlow Flea (LES)
When: Wednesday-Sunday, 12pm-8pm
Where: 159 Ludlow
The vibe: Clothing-first, especially when it comes to Y2K jerseys, slogan tees, and vintage streetwear. Smaller footprint than the big weekend fleas. Easy to hit after Chelsea or before crossing into BK on the F train.
Brooklyn Flea (DUMBO)
When: Saturdays and Sundays, 10am-5pm
Where: 80 Pearl (under Manhattan Bridge Archway)
The vibe: The most photogenic of them all, you can find pretty much anything here while a backdrop of Manhattan is in the background for the added effect. It was definitely packed shoulder-to-shoulder but if you’re a pro you should have no problem navigating. Lots of food options for a post-flea lunch.
Artists & Fleas (Williamsburg)
When: Saturdays and Sundays 11am-7pm
Where: 70 N 7th
The vibe: Indoor makers market with a high-end designer focus with jewelry, prints, records, curated art, handmade gifts, vintage, and a rotating list of designers. Cleaner and more curated than the outdoor markets. Expect quality overall with a loft-like artists feel.
