Capitol Couture:the costumes designed by Trish Summerville for Catching Fire are going to be fantastic

“I thought that the costumes needed to be more sophisticated[.] There were a lot of opportunities to go crazy and have fun.” – Francis Lawrence on The Hunger Games: Catching Fire

One cool thing about the Catching Fire movie that has a tremendous advantage over why I might just prefer an on-screen version as opposed to actual books are the amazing costumes designed by Trish Summerville (known for working on The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo and The Game).

The main goal for Francis Lawrence’s second Hunger Games film was to take full advantage of crazier high fashion moments in the powerful Capitol center surrounded by the otherwise dilapidated nation—and let’s just say they look nothing short of amazing with the help of none other than Alexander McQueen along with other newcomer designers.

In fact, the costumes by Summerville are so successful that on November 21 (one day before the premiere) Net-A-Porter is launching her Catching Fire-inspired line Capitol Couture to introduce her fashion-forward Katniss looks to the whole world.
