Montauk fresh: Meatball Shop’s Michael Chernow has a new Nolita seafood venture

Montauk fresh: Meatball Shop’s Michael Chernow has a new Nolita seafood venture

I have a definite case of the end-of-summer blues, so when I was browsing Eater’s curated HEATMAPS highlighting New York’s food hotspots I was drawn to the idea of a Montauk-inspired restaurant Seamore’s with a “Daily Landing” meat and veggie combo, similar to the founder Michael Chernow’s Meatball Shop concept (which: I *LOVE* my balls!).

And there’s just something about being on the very tip of Long Island that has you feeling fresh; dining at Seamore’s I definitely felt that same feeling. I started out with the kale and avocado salad which was as mouth-watering as it looks:

Choosing between three fish of the day I went with my server’s suggestion of the redfish that comes with three sides including a veggie: cauliflower, roasted red pearl onions topped with shallots, a grain: farrow, tomatoes, and smashed castelveltrano olives, and a green: sauteed spinach with almonds. You can choose between a few different sauces: harissa cashew, red curry, miso brown butter, salsa verde, and coconut cumin (I got the miso!):

Lucky for me, I was spoiled with some chips and salsa on the house (*thanks*), and by this point all of this had me wishing it was merely June instead of the beginning of fall, but either way I was feeling all of the feels (maybe the St. Jacque’s Mule cocktail had something to do with it).

Seamore’s was a pleasant treat. If you’re a fan of seafood of any kind definitely make it out; the flavors are full, your combo options are pretty much limitless, and the atmosphere takes you to another place that definitely doesn’t feel like New York City.
