One of my favorite drama-free trips to the beach from NYC is hands-down Long Beach—if you’re not in the mood to spend $5000 for a weekend in the Hamptons and are sick of the ferry to Rockaway, consider hopping on the LIRR Long Beach Branch from Penn Station for less than an hour (about 40 mins less than waiting in traffic!).
I don’t consider myself a snob or anything—I actually think sometimes with traveling I would even argue you don’t even need to go that far to have an amazing experience.
So when I was looking for lesser-known lobster rolls on Long Island, I came across this 100 year-old restaurant and lobster farm Jordan Lobster Farms on the tip of Island Park right on the water, I was more than thrilled to try a new joint to celebrate the bittersweet end of summer.

I ordered the Maine style and let me just say, this might have been the most bang for your buck on the entire island—for just under $40: Generous. Cold. Fresh.
The kind of roll where you take a bite and immediately start planning how you are going to eat the rest without looking unhinged (full disclaimer: I did end up taking some home).
If you are doing the end of August checklist and you still need one proper lobster roll before the season dies, this is the one.
