Workin’ it with Mr. Louis CK: a surprise impromptu show exercising new material at The Comedy Store

When I happened to hear about Louis CK doing an unannounced double feature show at The Comedy Store in Hollywood, I made sure to get tickets as they went on sale Friday morning (there was no way I’d miss a chance for some live Louie!). Then by word of mouth and the jib-jab of the Interwebs, it wasn’t long before night fell and hundreds of fans had too retrieved their cash only tickets and were all, “Louie Louie Louie Lou-ahh,” waiting in the block and a half long line ready to get their LOL on.

Louis told us he was working out some new material that would later be seen by, well, let’s just say higher-paying audience. He got into talking about his fondness of dating (which if you’re reading Louis, I love dates too!), why society should lower its body image standards (like who was the guy who said we all had to weigh 100 pounds to be considered hot?), slavery, and other debauchery that left us smiling and wondering about the world. The set was the exact reason why I adore Louis’ comedic style so much: even his side commentary that’s most times situational is perfectly hilarious, just like his feature show that should probably win an Emmy tonight.

The Comedy Store did tweet that there would be more happenings such as the last minute Louie show in the near future, so keep up to date on Twitter, Tumblr, and Facebook for more surprise features (and Louis, come back soon!).
