The cherries are coming

It’s the most won-der-ful time of the year…OK, not like that. But the cherry blossoms are coming (so I guess “My “Cherie Amour” would have been more appropriate). Either way, you will be pleased to know that these wonderful trees are going to begin bustling over the next few weeks as spring goes into full effect at Brooklyn Botanical Garden.

The cherry blossoms bloom in various phases based on species, and once April hits, the trees that were once bare with sorrow will be filled with perfumed loveliness to gaze upon as we finally kiss winter goodbye (unless you know, it snows again—which, it wouldn’t be the first time that has happened on the brink of spring in the East).

Here is a time lapse video made back in 2008 showing the different phases. Keep an eye on Brooklyn Botanical Garden‘s blog via the CherryWatch Blossom Status Map to keep track of when they start to peak.
