The W’s new evening sushi lounge is the perfect Times Square rendezvous spot

When your friend Moodyfoodyadventures asks you if you can make it to Times Square within the next 35 minutes for an important sushi tasting at the W, BR Guest’s brand new Japanese restaurant complete with a raw bar, you make sure to hop on the next train to make it for some of that fresh-rolled goodness.

Once 5pm hits, the location tucked under the hotel on 47th St. / Broadway is transformed to Izi, a Japanese Izakaya-style restaurant specializing in delicious shareables and lots of booze to choose for pairing on their extensive menu.

With over 22 types of whiskey to pick from including some authentic Japanese selections to represent like Chichibu and Hibiki “Harmony”, one will not be disappointed at their drink options.

This “Dry Heat” cocktail is a bitter delight, with Iwai Japanese Whisky, Carpano Antica Vermouth, and Hellfire Bitters:

The “Floating Flower” has an edible flower garnish worth the entire visit itself, featuring Soto Junmai Daigingo Sake, Celery Juice, and Elderflower Liqueur:

As expected, the sushi sampler was all sorts of ideal with elections like Miso Chile Lobster Roll, Eel Avocado, Sudachi Shrimp, and Izi Dynamite.

Sticky Fried Chicken wings and drumsticks in a sweet and spicy said with peanuts were also a big hit:

Chilean Sea Bass Skewers that melt in your mouth:

Times Square can be a hectic spot, especially if friends are in town. The Izi at the W is tucked away enough where you won’t need to deal with the big crowds but won’t need to venture off far from the heart of New York’s main attractions.
