Wanna see the largest manmade structure in space? Well now you can! No telescope required. With help from NASA’s new alert system “Spot the Station,” people can sign up to receive e-mail, phone, and/or text message alerts when the space station will be visible from their locale (weather permitting, of course).
A few hours before the craft will be viewable, NASA will send out notifications guiding people to the best area to view the giant structure moving through the sky.
NASA noted in a statement that, “The space station looks like a fast-moving plane in the sky, though one with people living and working aboard it more than 200 miles above the ground. It is best viewed on clear nights.”
This is exciting for all those space lovers (and cadets!) that wanna catch a glimpse of that big ol’ thing in passing.
