The Beatles. I mean. What can you really say that hasn’t already been said about the British rockers? Besides the fact they’re pretty much the bestest, and we’ll never not jam out to the collection of their tunes produced over the years. And let’s not forget the beginning of these guys’ seemingly overnight fame, auditioning with cover songs like, “Money,” “Crying, Waiting, Hoping,” and “Searchin’.” The tape was actually rejected by London’s Decca Studios (idiots!), then later picked up by EMI Records. And well, the rest is history.
Ted Owen of the auctioneers Fame Bureau told CNN that, “[t]he tape is pretty unique because it captures a moment in history, [and] [t]he quality is like sitting in a cinema with headphones on. It’s absolutely brilliant. That’s the most amazing part, the quality[.]” He also noted that the early recording was in fact, “a trophy.”
I doubt that I’ll be there to throw down, but for all those who can cough up the starting bid of $32,000, I wish you the best of luck. Cuz I mean, being able to listen to that whenever would be pretty sweet.
