Ommegang Brewery’s “Iron Throne Blonde Ale”: The Game of Thrones-themed brew that’s perfectly smug

“Everythings better with some [beer] in the belly.” —Tyrion Lannister

Remember the Game of Thrones drinking game where you drink every time someone says, “Winter is coming,” or Daenerys says, “Khaleesi”—even better, when Tyrion says something sexual? Well, that was all very enjoyable whilst sipping on red wine or beer or whatever it is you might have been indulging in during your weekly Game of Thrones sessions. But what if you could combine drinking and the most-loved HBO show in a way that was more, well, meaningful? Look no further than the Iron Throne Blonde Ale, a Westeros-themed beer that will “directly tie into themes, characters, and nuances” of the show.

So basically: the best news ever? Ommegang Brewery in Cooperstown, New York (known for their Rare Vos amber ale and Three Philosophers ale) will be the ones to craft the Iron Throne ale, and there’s no doubt it’s going to be pretty delicious.

Though the people of Westeros tend to sip on wine more so, they still like a good barrel of brew every now and again. Ommegang’s Iron Throne Ale will be released right in time for season three sometime before March 31, so plenty of time to ready yourselves and stock up on this soon-to-be delight.
