Breakfast at Keys: Lake Tahoe’s indie coffeehouse, restaurant, and wine bar that’s deliciousness will leave your stomach happy

Everyone does Tahoe differently. If you’re an intense camper you’re probably somewhere in the middle of the woods cooking bacon over a fire (OK, so not that intense.) Or maybe you’ve rented a house along the lake for a less “serious” Lake Tahoe experience. Who knows. Either way, no matter how much you just so happen to be “roughing it,” Keys Cafe is a gem that’s definitely worth a stop.

I had breakfast there two mornings in a row a couple of months ago for the first time (needles to say, I hardly roughed it!), and the log cabin ambiance of this place reminds you of something of a homey feel. Right off of Lake Tahoe Boulevard, along the “strip,” of South Lake Tahoe so to speak, Keys Cafe sits tucked away in a quaint, tree-filled spot.

They have specials daily ranging anywhere from delicious chorizo breakfast burritos to sweet acai bowls (you can follow for updates on Twitter), and their smoothies are blended to a thick fruity concoction that might have been the best I’ve ever had. So next time you’re up near the Sierras or maybe in SF or Reno, take a trip up to Tahoe and get some yummy eats at Keys! You will not be disappointed!
