Another Greatest Event in Television History is on tonight

With a whopping $25 million budget backed by the idea someone out there would actually be crazy enough to try and recreate Gus Van Sant’s opening sequence of the long lived TV show Simon & Simon, you have a Van Sant-inspired Paul Rudd directing Jon Hamm and Adam Scott (Parks & Rec) to see if it is in fact possible to duplicate such an iconic scene in Scott’s latest TV venture The Greatest Event in Television History. And the guys really proved themselves right here, because it looks pretty spot on:

Scott will continue to try and recreate opening scenes from TV shows of yesteryear on the Adult Swim mockumentary series. Not much is known about the third installment premiering tonight at midnight (Family Ties, perhaps?), but judging by the Simon & Simon production it’s bound to be enjoyable.
